FTX - 942 AMERICAN BALLADS & FOLK SONGS - 2

Guy Carawan & Peggy Seeger (gtr & banjo)

These two young and gifted folksingers, students of the Lomax and Seeger families, recorded by Peter Kennedy in 1958, formed the backing group for the recordings Peter made of Alan Lomax. The choice of repertoire and arrangement was influenced by the Lomax books of American ballads and Folksong. The technique of Guy and Peggy's 5-string banjo and acoustic guitar laid the foundation for the post-war revival in Britain and America.
