Extract recordings, made by Peter Kennedy in this Derbyshire village, Oak Apple
Day 1957, of the Garland Day procession and custom with the Silver Band also
playing for "The Maypole Dance", "Now is the Hour", "The
Last Post" and "The National Anthem". Finally three of the older
villagers remember the past, Mrs Hall (83) the old carols, including "Down in
yon forest", previously collected from John Hall by Ivor Gatty and Ralph Vaughan
Williams in 1908 (JFSS 14 1910 p63) "Over Yonder's a Park". Followed by Ellis
