Collected and sung by Alan Lomax with "Nick Wheatstraw" (alias Alex Korner: guitar), Guy Carawan (guitar & banjo) John Cole (harmonica) & Sammy Stokes (bass)

In addition to recording Alan's own family collection of Texas Folksongs sung solo with his own guitar (Folktrax 904), Peter Kennedy took the opportunity of making use of two young singer-instrumentalists, one English and one American, to provide a backing group for him to perform some of the more popular folksongs published in the Lomax books of American Ballads and Folksongs. A further album of these songs, with Alan's help, gave Guy and Peggy their own voice (Folktrax 943).
