- THE WANDERING MINSTREL
LONDON STREET PIANO
20 Popular Song & Hymn tunes played on one of Canon Wintle's Street Pianos by Duncan Moncrieff.
Includes many London Music Hall Songs: This particular piano was Canon Wintle's favourite and before selling it to Mr.Moncrieff,
he visited him many times, to ensure that it was going to a good home. Canon A.O. Wintle became rector of Lawshall, Lavenham, Suffolk in 1923 and in became interested in overhauling old street pianos and learned to "pin" new barrels himself. The two barrels used on this recording, made by PK in 1955, were played by H.M. Queen Elizabeth at Sandringham 19th January 1955 in the presence of the Queen Mother and H.R.H. Princess Margaret.
