FTX 162 - LAST NIGHT BEING
WINDY - More Lilts and Love Songs from Elizabeth CRONIN
Bess CRONIN (1879-1956), the famous singer from Macroom, Co Cork, possessing
the most intimate and graceful of singing styles, here provides another 25 of
her lyrical and pastoral songs mingling with some racey dance ditties recorded
in the late 1940s and early 1950s by Brian George, Seamus Ennis Alan Lomax and
Robin Roberts. There is now a handsome book about her edited by her grandson
giving the words of the songs, together with two CDs which also contain some
of the songs she sang in Gaelic.
