ENGLISH LOVE SONGS
HARRY COX -1-
HARRY COX (1885-1971) was an outstanding folk-singer from the Norfolk Broads
area of East Anglia. This first album features his own family repertoire - the
songs he most enjoyed performing, BETSY, THE SERVANT MAID, being his own special
favourite. Peter Kennedy made these recordings most of them in the garden shed
of his home at Catfield 1953-56. Peter contributed a personal appreciation and
included five of his songs in The Folk Music Journal 1958 pp.142-155
and other songs appear in earlier Journals of The English Folk Dance & Song Society (1922, 1931 & 1932).

Harry was born 27th March 1885, at Barton Turf, near Yarmouth, and died 6th
