FTX-012 AU BORD D'UNE FONTAINE

SONGS FROM THE CHANNEL ISLANDS

This album, selected from field recordings made in the Channel Islands by Peter Kennedy in 1957 & 1960, is a great tribute to the islanders who in spite of English dominance, and more recently holiday tourism, have managed to retain their local traditions. Here are 24 songs, the original field recordings of songs #97-120 included in the book FOLKSONGS OF BRITAIN AND IRELAND edited by Peter Kennedy (Cassell/ Schirmer 1975 paperback by Oak 1985 and distributed by Music Sales). It won the Library Association McColvin Award for the most outstanding reference book of 1975 and contains the full texts, translations, music notations and background information on the songs.
