FTX-291 - I WISH I WAS BACK IN LIVERPOOL - QUAYSIDE SONGS - OLD AND NEW - THE SPINNERS

An Archive recording made in the studio in 1960, & live in London in 1962. They were the first English Folk Group to become well known; ran their own club and produced SPIN, their monthly magazine (copies in the Folktrax Library). Peter recorded them in his studio in 1960 and live in London in 1962 taking part in a National Folk Festival Ceili. Regrettably this was only a few weeks prior to Jacqueline Macdonald leaving the group. At Cecil Sharp House they are introduced by the Scottish poet and folk collector from the School of Scottish Studies in Edinburgh, the late Hamish Henderson. THE SPINNERS: Tony Davis (voc/ banjo/ recorder) - Mick Groves (voc/ gtr/ mandolin)- Cliff Hall (voc/ gtr/ mouth-harp) - Hugh Jones (voc/ gtr/ m-h)& Jacqueline Macdonald (voc/ gtr)
